To celebrate the National Portrait Gallery’s nomination for the Art Fund Museum of the Year Award 2024

To celebrate the National Portrait Gallery’s nomination for the Art Fund Museum of the Year Award 2024, we are delighted to offer National Art Pass holders a complimentary McBean cocktail with any food purchase.

The McBean – ‘a dirty martini worth travelling the length of Britain to try, let alone across London for’ (Hot Dinners, 2023).

Larry's Dirty Martini, with the infusion and clarification of green olives and lemongrass to extract the citrusy flavour, is served clear and made 'dirty' with a single drop of black olive oil.

The cocktail is named after celebrated photographer Angus McBean. Known for his combination of surrealism, elegance and glamour, Angus was the West End photographer of the 1930’s, forming close relationships with Laurence Olivier and Vivienne Leigh and photographing the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Shirley Bassey and The Beatles.

The Ingredients

Our use of Umeshu gives a modern interpretation on the Dirty Martini, whilst the vodka and gin base brings a strong botanical flavour profile and depth to the drink.

In fact, seventeen botanicals are present within Larry's use of award-winning spirits - Highclere Castle London Dry gin (over 100 international awards) and Gattertop Botanical No.7 vodka (2021 IWSC Award, highest scoring English vodka, and top 5 tastiest vodkas in the world). Both spirits are derived from using organic ingredients foraged from each estate, adding to the citrusy and salty flavours of the Martini.

In the evenings, there is a twist on classic cocktails inspired and named by famous sitters from the collection, using some of London’s best small spirit producers, including Highclere Castle gin and Gattertop vodka as well as bitters, shrubs and infusions made in house.
