Design and create a 3D paper cut Christmas scene in this festive workshop.
In this workshop you will design and create a 3D paper cut Christmas scene. Using scalpels, scissors, glue, paper and pencils you will design your papercut scene section by section to create a tunnel book or ‘peep show’ perfect to put on your hearth or table this Christmas.
Tunnel books date all the way back to the mid-18th century, when they were originally called peep shows. Tunnel books are a series of cut-paper panels placed one behind the other, creating the illusion of depth and perspective.
Bring along your own ideas and images to create a one off artwork. All materials are provided and you will be taught how to construct a tunnel book structure and how to create imagery throughout the pages using paper cutting techniques.
About the artistThis workshop is run by Paperbased, an experienced paper artist Kim Bevan. Kim provides workshops for all ages here at Chatsworth and in her own studio. In her own practice she makes artist books which play around with 3D sculptural folding techniques and creates artwork using paper cutting and printmaking.
