Discover a contemporary artist who weaves stories of personal memory and collective history onto the canvas
Drawing on his mixed Thai and British heritage, artist Mark Corfield-Moore’s new body of work investigates historic use of textiles in the production of rugs and tents in the treatment of fabrics.
Reflecting on diasporic identity and the symbolism of woven textiles, the artist will showcase works created with a distinctive technique based on ikat, a process he learned in northern Thailand. By winding the threads on a loom, the artist further complicates and distorts the image resulting in a unique glitchiness that he calls a ‘fizzy heat’.
