The first major UK exhibition of American experimental artist Mike Kelley
A deep dive into the provocative, elaborative and imaginary worlds created by experimental artist Mike Kelley. The exhibition, which spans Kelley’s entire career from the late 1970s through to 2012, features works including his breakthrough 'craft' sculptures made from textile and plush toys, and multimedia installations such as Day Is Done.
Using drawing, collage, performance, found objects and video, Kelley explores how the roles we all play in society are intertwined with historical fact. Drawing inspiration from literature, philosophy and underground culture as well as fictional characters from the media, his reflections on identity and memory still resonate over a decade since his death.
