One of the country's leading maritime museums, National Museum of the Royal Navy Portsmouth is devoted to the story of the men and women of the Royal Navy.

Part of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, this museum is a must-visit for history buffs, maritime enthusiasts, and families alike. With its diverse range of exhibits, interactive displays, historic ships such as HMS Victory and sleek submarines, there is something to fascinate everyone.

Naval history

The museum holds the most comprehensive collection of Royal Navy heritage in the UK and the largest collection of historic ships in Europe. Explore naval history through figureheads, flags, aircraft, art, documents, photographs, archaeological material and technology.

HMS: Hear My Story

Listen to the personal stories and experiences of over 1,000 men and women with connections to the Royal Navy, spanning the past 100 years.

Lord Nelson

Permanent galleries cover the story of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, his navy, HMS Victory and the Battle of Trafalgar. Highlights include objects that belonged to Nelson and Emma Hamilton and their daughter Horatia.

Opening times

The musuem is open daily from 10:00 - 17:00. Last entry is 15:30. Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
