The geometric pottery amphora is made up from 15 fragments which have recently been restored. The surface is covered with an intricate web of half-tone decoration. An elaborate 'tapestry' pattern fills the widest zone around the middle, a chequerboard motif decorates the shoulder and an elongated double meander emphasises the elegant neck. A frieze of water birds fills the narrow zone below the rim. This work was acquired with assistance from the Wolfson Foundation.
