Queen and Country

The ACC is run by the Imperial War Museum and is the current day version of the War Artists Advisory Committee. McQueen proposed that the Royal Mail produce commemorative stamps of individual servicemen and women who had lost their lives in Iraq with the intention that their images should enter the 'lifeblood' of the nation as they are circulated and used.

All bereaved families have been invited to collaborate in the project. This work is a development of the proposal and consists of sheets of facsimile postage stamps, designed around photographs of each individual and bearing the profile of The Queen. The sheets are housed in a large oak cabinet in individual frames which visitors are invited to pull out to view. It is a work in progress that will continue until the current British operations in Iraq end.
