Foster was a Victorian painter, mainly in watercolour, of landscape and rustic scenes as well as being an illustrator and engraver. This depiction of Henley in the late 19th century will be exhibited in the Thames Gallery at the museum where it will support a range of topics such as trade and transport, settlements and the river as a source of cultural inspiration.
