Over-life sized seated figure of the Buddha, seated on a plinth in a meditative pose.
The figure wears a deeply incised form-defining monastic robe. Made in Uttar Pradesh, northern India under the Kushan dunasty, it is a remarkably early sculpture from the beginnings of the recorded history of Buddha images.
