White Cube Mason's Yard
Mason's Yard is one of two White Cube galleries in London, which are regarded as among the world's most influential exhibition spaces for contemporary art.
Originally set up in 1993 by art dealer Jay Jopling at a tiny location on Duke Street, White Cube has expanded into a worldwide group of venues.
Intriguing building
The free standing structure that houses White Cube Mason's Yard was constructed on the site of an electricity sub-station, with the building's modern architecture contrasting with the historic surroundings of St James’s Square. Opened in 2006, it comprises a ground floor gallery on street level along with a double-height, naturally lit basement gallery.
Rotating exhibitions
The gallery regularly hosts thought-provoking exhibitions featuring works by both established and emerging artists. These can range from solo shows to group exhibitions showcasing a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, and installation art.
The best in contemporary art
The gallery has a reputation for showcasing cutting-edge contemporary art, and has represented many famous artists throughout its history, including Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, and Ai Weiwei.
