Oneness set to start

12 Dec 2021

This year, the brickwork rotunda and helical staircase were completed, an the lift installed. Now that construction works at Leighton House are coming to an end, the spaces are ready for Oneness.

After a much-longer wait than expected, finally plans are underway for Shahrzad Ghaffari to start painting Oneness on January 10. Movable scaffolding and a special platform will be installed to assist her in completing the 11-metre-high mural which will stretch across three floors – resulting in a spectacular contemporary installation that will be revealed in time for the museum’s reopening, now scheduled for late spring-early summer 2022. The paint and tools have already been ordered and most of it is already on site, ready for work to begin. We will thoroughly document the process as the artwork develops and unfolds in this historic moment for the museum. We cannot wait to share the first images of Shahrzad at work.

Finally, more good news for those of you awaiting your signed print and/or the oil studies – Shahrzad coming to London means these rewards will be finalised and sent in coming months.

We look forward to entering this exciting period of fit out and preparation for reopening, and we are sure the long wait will be worth it - Oneness promises to be truly spectacular!
