Join us for an Architectural Tour of our purpose-built Victorian factory in the heart of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.
As part of Birmingham Heritage Week, discover the journey of the site from back-to-back housing to being transformed into a state of the art manufactory in 1894 and then a museum in 2014.
Strip back the layers of the building on a guided tour that allows you to see the museum from a different perspective.
Our 'Architec-tour' has been designed by an architect who's knowledge and skills of historical buildings shines a whole new light on our factory. By taking a closer look at the details in the building fabric itself, we can determine what their priorities were, how the building has survived this long and what makes it stand our from the crowd. From the arched lintels, to the curiously located toilets; there's a lot to discover!
For those of you who've been to the Coffin Works before, this is completely different to our usual tour so do come along and explore something new and exciting.
For all architecture admirers, this tour pays attention to the detail behind the Victorian ingenious design of the Newman Brothers' factory.
The tour will be at 12pm on Sunday 15th September and will last around 45 minutes to an hour.
Our Cafe will be open on the day selling a range of refreshments.

Opening times
Self-guided entry (with a 50% discount for National Art Pass holders) is available Friday - Sunday, 12-3pm.
Guided Tours (charged separately) are available on Wednesdays at 11am and 1pm; Thursdays at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm; and Friday - Sunday at 11am only.

Exclusions and safety measures
National Art Pass holders receive a 50% discount on self-guided entry (excluding guided tours).
The Coffin Works is now open for Guided Tours only on Wednesdays at 11am and 1pm and Thursdays at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm. Please note, as it is Guided Tours only, Art Pass discount does not apply on these days.
To visit the museum on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, we have a guided tour at 11am and then self-guided entry every half hour from 12pm-4pm (last entry 3pm).
With your self-guided entry ticket, you will receive a booklet guide and access to a mobile tour to help you round the building, as well as our fantastic volunteer Room Enablers in each room to answer any questions and help you engage with the building's unique history. You'll also see the historic machinery in action.
