About the Tutor: Yoshie Allan is a self-taught visual artist, illustrator, and pattern designer from northeast Japan. Yoshie established herself as an illustrator and collage artist in Tokyo in 2006, where she began showcasing mixed media works. Yoshie has lived in Hitchin for over a decade, moving from Fukushima with her family following an earthquake in 2011.

Her diverse portfolio spans several published picture books, advertisements, textile and wallpaper patterns, and various collaborations, including with the design duo ‘Sas and Yosh’. Creating large-scale works, such as a thirteen-metre mural at the Lister Hospital and bespoke wallpaper for The Radcliffe Arms in Hitchin. Her work has featured in exhibitions in Fukushima and Tokyo.

Her journey is one of creativity and laughter.

Come to see the newly opened North Hertfordshire Museum. We have four galleries for you to visit: explore the Discovering North Hertfordshire Gallery, which deals with the history of the district from geological times to the present day; our Exhibition Gallery has regularly changing exhibits; discover how people’s lives have changed over thousands of years in the Living in North Hertfordshire Gallery; see the football collection, objects from all around the world, items from our art collections and animations of local folklore tales in the Terrace Gallery; view artworks in the Arches Gallery, part of the Terrace Gallery. We have a shop where you can buy gifts and local souvenirs, and a cafe serving a variety of food, and hot and cold drinks. Admission is free.
