The Scottish Maritime Museum has announced a new series of glass workshops for April
The April glass workshops will centre on creating floral roundels and fused glass jewellery within the light filled and inspirational setting of the vast glass roofed Linthouse on Irvine Harbourside.
All workshops will run under the expert guidance of accomplished glass artist Eilidh Mackenzie and are ideal for beginners through to enthusiasts with some experience.
Participants on the Fused Glass Floral Roundel Workshop, which will run from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 12 and Saturday 19 April, will immerse themselves in the delicate art of glass fusion.
During the half-day workshop they will learn to delicately layer translucent and opaque glass elements that catch and play with light as they craft exquisite, fused glass roundels capturing the ephemeral beauty of springtime blooms.
Participants on the Fused Glass Jewellery Workshop, which will run from 1.30pm to 4.30pm on Saturday 12 and Saturday 19 April, will discover the ancient yet thoroughly modern craft of art glass jewellery.
Mastering the delicate techniques of glass cutting and shaping and exploring the interplay of light, colour, and texture, they will create luminous glass cabochons, the centrepieces for three distinctive pieces of wearable art incorporating shimmering di-chroic glass that shifts colours as it moves in the light.
