An account of the findings at the Greenside site in Rosemarkie - including a bronze age metalwork hoard.
Mary is Associate Director of the commercial archaeology company AOC Archaeology and manages the local office and team of field archaeologists based at Rosehaugh, near Avoch. The company undertook the survey work and subsequent excavations ahead of the housing development at Greenside in Rosemarkie in recent years. Mary directed the excavations. She will talk about the findings which included an important bronze age metalwork hoard. The hoard block itself is being excavated in the laboratory by GUARD, another archaeology company based in Glasgow, and will be the subject of a later talk in our programme on 25th September. Mary will also talk about the organisation, logistics and what might be called politics of the excavation which are not always covered in such presentations and which our audience will, we are sure, find interesting as background.
