Special Event

A Day in the 1940s: VE Day 80

10 May 2025
10.00-16.00
Included in general admission

Step back in time and experience the sounds, sights, and tastes of the 1940s in London at this VE Day 80 celebration.

With live 1940s-style music from Lancashire Belle, Second World War re-enactors, and vintage games and activity stations, we are bridging the gap between the home front and the front lines – inviting you to both celebrate and remember on the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Billingsgate Wrap will be attending, so you can get your fill of fish and chips as you settle down to watch a Punch & Judy performance. Try on authentic uniforms of the King’s Guard and dig deeper into the soldier’s stories, even having the chance to handle objects from our museum collection.

Better yet, it’s free to enter! Art Fund members enjoy free access to the museum - however to reserve your spot you can prebook (for free) at the link below, under 'General Admission'.
