Capturing the haunting beauty of post-war London.
During his early years as a young artist in post-war London, Frank Auerbach produced one of his most remarkable bodies of work: a haunting series of large-scale charcoal portraits. Auerbach spent months on the drawings, working and reworking them during numerous sessions with his sitters, each of which speaks to the profound experiences after the destruction of war.
In a special exhibition, these drawings will be presented together for the first time at The Courtauld Gallery.
