Celebrate the legacy of Frankie Goes to Hollywood icon Holly Johnson
Celebrating the cultural legacy, creative genius and social impact of Holly Johnson on 1980s British culture and music, this exhibition marks 40 years since Frankie Goes to Hollywood's album Welcome to the Pleasuredome. The 1980s were a period of social upheaval, and musical innovation, with Johnson at the forefront of the synth-pop and new wave scenes.
Discover his journey from young musician to prominent, openly gay star dealing with the price of fame, an HIV+ diagnosis, and unwanted negative press. Produced by Homotopia, Duovision Arts, and National Museums Liverpool, this exhibition highlights both the vibrant LGBTQ+ scene and the impact of HIV during the era.
