Experience the first UK institutional solo exhibition of Koak's emotionally charged figures and landscapes.
Koak is a San Francisco-based artist known for her exploration of identity and human nature through drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. For her first UK institutional solo exhibition, she presents a newly commissioned body of work for Charleston’s town centre space in Lewes.
In her paintings, Koak reclaims the female gaze, challenging traditional portrayals of women by male artists. The exhibition engages in a thoughtful dialogue with the legacy of Vanessa Bell, whose contributions to modern art are explored in depth in the adjacent exhibition.
