Revealing an iconic fashion photographer’s passion for gardens.
Best known for his iconic fashion photography, Cecil Beaton was an accomplished costume and set designer for film, theatre and ballet, as well as a gifted artist. This exhibition is the first to explore a recurring theme in his work: gardens and flowers.
Through photographs, paintings, drawings and costume and set designs, the exhibition reveals how flowers shaped Beaton’s artistic vision. From extravagant floral installations at his legendary parties to painted and fresh blooms in fashion shoots and royal portraits, flowers were central to his creative process. His flair for floral theatrics culminated in the unforgettable costumes of My Fair Lady.
