Originally built in Tudor times, the building has been much expanded over the years. The inhabitants and owners of Bakewell Old House Museum ranged from Christopher Plant, the Tudor tithe collector, Sir Richard Arkwright, who housed his mill workers here, and the Pitt family, who lived in one of the cottages in Victorian times.
Changing social history displays allow you to explore local and regional lives.
