Court Barn Museum tells the story of craft and design in the north Cotswolds from the Arts and Crafts movement onwards.

Displays reveal how Chipping Campden became a gathering place for designers and craftspeople of international reputation. Founded on the legacy of C R Asbee’s Guild of Handicraft, the museum celebrates the skilled designers and craftspeople who have left their mark on the region since the early 20th century. These include Gordon Russell, Katharine Adams, Hart Silversmiths and Robert Welch.

Crafted collection

The Court Barn Museum's collection showcases a fascinating array of objects. Delve into the Arts and Crafts Movement, a late 19th-century rebellion against mass production. Discover furniture crafted by renowned designers like Ernest Gimson and Sidney Barnsley. Explore textiles, metalwork, and ceramics that reflect the movement's emphasis on quality and hand-made artistry. The museum also highlights mid-20th century design and contemporary artistic movements in the Cotswolds.

Engaging activities

Interactive exhibits allow visitors to get hands-on with various crafts, like furniture making or embroidery. The museum also runs workshops and demonstrations led by skilled artisans, providing a unique opportunity to learn traditional techniques and gain a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind everyday objects.
