Danum Gallery, Library and Museum
Collections at Doncaster's Danum Gallery, Library and Museum focus on archaeology, natural history, paintings, sculpture, glass and ceramics.
Opened in 2021, Danum Gallery, Library and Museum (DGLAM) is a unique venue, combining a library, museum, and art gallery under one roof, offering a diverse range of experiences for visitors of all ages and interests.
Preserving Doncaster's past
The museum section of DGLAM tells the story of Doncaster, from prehistoric finds to items from the Roman period and beyond. Discover the famous people who came from the area, and don’t miss the Museum of You, made up of objects loaned by local people. There’s also a dedicated section to the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry regiment, showcasing its role in British military history.
Rail Heritage Centre
Explore Doncaster’s fascinating rail history through railway memorabilia and a collection of around 10,000 artefacts amassed since 1930. Alongside the objects on display are two Doncaster-built locomotives, on loan as part of a partnership between Heritage Doncaster and the National Railway Museum.
Gallery and Library
With an inspiring programme of touring exhibitions, you can expect to find works by national and internationally renowned artists in the gallery. The state-of-the-art library houses extensive collection of books, periodicals, and digital resources, with a dedicated children’s section.
Café 1910
The café sits beneath the original frontage of Doncaster High School for Girls, which was established in 1910, where today you can enjoy light bites, sweet treats and award-winning coffee.
