Dudmaston
With a National Art Pass you get
Dudmaston offers something unexpected in the Shropshire countryside: a house that provides a classical setting for a collection of modern and contemporary art.
The 17th-century country house, now under the care of the National Trust, stands out for its contrasting features, a historical family home juxtaposed with one of the most important private collections of modern art in Britain.
Modern Art collectors
The modern art collection was amassed by diplomat Sir George Labouchere, while his wife Rachel showed off her collections of botanical drawings and watercolours. The artists represented include Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, John Nash and Jean Dubuffet. There is also a collection of mid-20th-century Spanish art.
Explore the grounds
Beyond the grand house, you can stroll through the terraced lawns that lead to a serene lake. The established gardens are a stunning backdrop to art sculptures. Wander along serpentine paths or explore ancient woodlands, a testament to Dudmaston's pioneering forestry practices. There is also an on-site playground and a cafe.
