Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art

In the late 1940s the distinguished American dealer and collector Eric Estorick discovered contemporary Italian art, travelling to Italy on several occasions and befriending the major artists of his day. By the time he died in 1993 he had accumulated an internationally famous collection of Italian art and sculpture from 1890 to the 1950s.

Georgian town house

The UK's only public gallery dedicated solely to modern Italian art is housed in a refurbished building in north London. Recent renovations have opened up the space of the ground-floor entranceway, bookshop and relaunched Caffè Estorick, serving fresh Italian coffee. The six galleries and art library have also been fully upgraded.

Futurism collection

A cornerstone of the collection is the Futurist movement, with iconic pieces by artists including Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, and Gino Severini. Futurism aimed to capture the dynamism of the modern world, and the Estorick Collection allows visitors to step into this revolutionary art form.

Beyond Futurism

The Estorick Collection also houses figurative works by titans like Amedeo Modigliani and Giorgio Morandi, offering a well-rounded exploration of 20th-century Italian art. The Estorick Collection Library contains over 3000 books, periodicals and exhibition catalogues and is open to researchers and Members of the Estorick by appointment.
