The FE McWilliam Gallery & Studio celebrates the life and work of sculptor Frederick Edward McWilliam, who was born in Banbridge in 1909.
A friend and contemporary of Henry Moore, McWilliam made his name in London and established a reputation as one of his generation's most important sculptors. The gallery which opened in 2008 celebrates his work and journey to become on e of Ireland’s most influential artists.
McWilliam's sculptures
Explore a permanent collection of McWilliam's sculptures, showcasing the breadth of his work across various mediums including terracotta, stone, wood, and bronze. The gallery also features a sculpture garden with McWilliam's sculptures displayed in a setting reminiscent of his own London studio.
Artist’s studio
Art enthusiasts can delve deeper into McWilliam's creative process by visiting a meticulously recreated version of his London studio in Holland Park. This space provides an insight into the sculptor's workspace and the tools he used, including maquettes, which are preparatory works for sculpted bronzes.
Beyond McWilliam
The gallery hosts an annual programme of outstanding exhibitions showcasing Irish and international contemporary art, accompanied by lectures and workshops. Art and craft workshops for adults and children also run throughout the year.
