The collections at University of Glasgow Library are among the foremost resources in Scotland for academic teaching and research.

The University of Glasgow Library Special Collections is a treasure trove of rare books, manuscripts, and other unique materials. It is one of the largest and most important special collections libraries in the United Kingdom.

The Special Collections houses a number of rare printed works, including medieval illuminated manuscripts, early printed books, and first editions of famous works. You can view these items in person or online.

House of Fraser Archive

Get a glimpse into the history of one of Britain's leading department stores. House of Fraser has a long and distinguished history. Founded in Glasgow 1849, House of Fraser expanded rapidly, acquiring some 200 different stores, with branches in many parts of the world. The Archive is a source for the history of British design, fashion, tastes, lifestyles, consumerism and consumption from the early nineteenth to the end of the twentieth century.

Visitors are advised to contact Special Collections in advance to arrange consultation of material. Access to the Library is by visitor pass (application required).
