Grundy Art Gallery

Grundy Art Gallery is housed a Grade II listed Edwardian building in Blackpool. Focussing on contemporary art, it features both established and emerging artists.
In 1908, Blackpool Council commissioned the building of the gallery after receiving a bequest of over 20 paintings and a financial gift brothers John and Sir Cuthbert Grundy, both artists themselves. If you're an avid art enthusiast or simply curious about contemporary art, the Grundy's diverse exhibitions and commitment to up-and-coming artists make it a worthwhile visit.
Exciting exhibitions
The gallery showcases a vibrant program of contemporary visual art exhibitions. These include works ranging from sculptures and paintings to video installations by established and up-and-coming artists from the UK and abroad.
Diverse permanent collection
While the temporary exhibitions offer a fresh perspective on the contemporary art world, the Grundy also boasts a permanent collection, although it's not always on display. This eclectic collection reflects Blackpool's own story and artistic heritage. You could well encounter Victorian oil paintings and watercolors alongside modern British pieces, ceramics, and even Blackpool souvenirs.
A space for engagement
The museum offers a variety of programs to engage visitors of all ages with the art on display. Talks, workshops, and events delve deeper into the themes and artistic movements explored in the exhibitions.
