The Higgins Bedford is museum dedicated to exploring the history and culture of Bedford.
The Higgins Bedford unites three previously separate venues – Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford Museum and Bedford Gallery. Located in the historic buildings of Castle Brewery, built by the Higgins family in the mid-19th Century, it offers a diverse range of exhibits, activities, and experiences for visitors of all ages.
Diverse art collection
The museum boasts a substantial collection of fine and decorative arts, including a collection of over a thousand pieces that the printmaker, illustrator, watercolourist and designer, Edward Bawden (1903–89), donated to the gallery in the 1980s.
Local history
Explore the history of Bedford and the surrounding area through interactive displays and exhibits on local history, archaeology, and social history, showcasing the region's rich heritage.

Throughout the year, the museum hosts an exciting programme of temporary exhibitions featuring a wide range of themes and renowned artists. It also offers a variety of family-friendly activities, including workshops and trails, plus tours, talks and community group sessions and special events.
