A stone’s throw from Edinburgh, Hopetoun House is a spectacular example of 18th-century architecture, with walks, activities and collections to occupy all year-round.
One of Scotland’s finest stately homes, Hopetoun House boasts a regal exterior, combined with opulent interiors. Accompanied by gorgeous expansive grounds, including a large lark, woodland and wildlife, the house is perfect for country wander, while the extensive collections of furniture and art inside the house are also available to browse.
The panoramic view of the house in its entirety is particularly striking on arrival, as a fine example of architecture from the 18th century. Inside the house are decorated ceilings, wood-carved walls and a magnificent staircase, as well as extensive collections of period furniture, clocks, tapestries and classical paintings.
The grounds provide the chance for some beautiful scenic walks, including the Spring Garden Trail and the Sea Walk Trail, while quiet woodland corners, herd of deer and seasonal flowers can be found across the gardens year-round.
