This free museum takes visitors on a remarkable adventure through 235 million years, showcasing the region's fascinating history. With its captivating displays and interactive exhibits it offers a unique opportunity to connect with the past.

What to see

The museum boasts a diverse collection, encompassing everything from prehistoric mammoth bones (the only ones discovered in East Yorkshire) to stunning Roman mosaics. Explore life-size reconstructions of an Iron Age village including the 2,300-year-old Hasholme Boat that sank while loaded with a cargo of wood and beef.

Walk through a recreated Roman town square, see a collection of Saxon and Viking artefacts, including an exceptional Viking sword, and discover displays on medieval and early modern Hull through pottery, stone carvings, and other intriguing finds.

Fun and educational experience

Families will enjoy the interactive exhibits and the chance to learn about history in a hands-on way. There are also trails to follow and plenty of fun activities during the school holidays.
