John Hansard Gallery is one of the UK’s leading contemporary art galleries. Relocating in 2018 to its purpose-built space in the heart of Southampton City Centre, the Gallery hosts innovative and critically acclaimed contemporary art exhibitions, community-focused projects, events, learning, and research projects that draw on a wide range of perspectives and lived experiences.
The Gallery’s programme highlights the rich diversity of contemporary art. Exhibited artists have included celebrated international figures such as Andy Warhol, Anne Tallentire, Gerhard Richter, Nancy Holt, and Haroon Mirza, as well as emerging and local artists. John Hansard Gallery also supports artist commissions, which have included work by Larry Achiampong and Niamh O’Malley.
Part of the University of Southampton, John Hansard Gallery is proud to play a dynamic role in the cultural life of Southampton and the region, with its vision is to create a curious, connected and inclusive world, inspired by art.
