National Wool Museum
The National Wool Museum explores one of Wales' most historically important and widespread industries, with working machinery and hands-on exhibits.
Nestled in the Welsh village of Dre-fach Felindre, the museum offers a unique window into the history and cultural significance of wool production in Wales. Displays chart the journey of wool production from ‘Fleece to Fabric’, whilst crafters demonstrate the process that is still rising in demand today.
Historic machinery
Get a close up view of the museum's collection of machinery used throughout the centuries to transform raw fleece into finished textiles. From willowers that untangle the sheared wool, to the carding engine and spinning wheels.
Hands-on displays
Interactive displays allow visitors to get hands-on with these processes, offering a deeper appreciation for the time and skill required to produce woolen goods. Families can have fun following the specially designed trail, trying their hand at carding, spinning and sewing along the way.
Cafe and shop
With its interactive exhibits, engaging demonstrations, and picturesque setting, the National Wool Museum offers a fun and educational day trip. The on-site cafe provides refreshments, and the gift shop allows you to take home a piece of Welsh wool heritage, from handcrafted souvenirs to locally produced woollen garments.
