Newby Hall & Gardens
With a National Art Pass you get
Designed by Sir Christopher Wren, with Robert Adam interiors, Newby Hall in Ripon is home to Chippendale furniture, Gobelins tapestries and classical statuary.
You might recognise the impressive country house from TV shows such as Peaky Blinders, or Gentleman Jack. Built by Wren in the 1690s, the house is famed for its exquisite interiors, particularly those designed by Robert Adam in the 18th century and award winning gardens.
Can I see in side the house?
Yes, but you will need to book a guided tour. Don’t miss the Tapestry Room, a drawing room created specifically for William Weddells’ set of Gobelins tapestries which he ordered in Paris in 1763, or the Statue Gallery, which houses one of the finest private collections of Roman statuary in Britain.
Award-winning gardens
Set amongst 25 acres of grounds the meticulously designed gardens extend to include specialised sections, such as a rose garden, an autumn garden, and a water garden, each showcasing unique plant life. Discover rare and beautiful plants, including the National Collection of Cornus, or Dogwoods, plus the Newby Sculpture Garden hosts an ever-changing display of contemporary works.
Fun for all ages
Children will be enthralled by the enchanting woodland walk and the exciting miniature railway. The adventure playground, complete with a moated fort and water features, promises a fun-filled experience. Alternatively, hop on a relaxing boat trip on the River Ure to appreciate the surrounding scenery.
