Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery

Located in the centre of the historic market town Petersfield, the museum is dedicated to showcasing the rich history of the town and its surrounding villages. It holds a vast collection pertaining to social history, photography, archaeology and more, with an array of fascinating and interactive objects to explore.

Specialised collections include work by local painter Flora Twort (1893-1985), known for her watercolour and pastel scenes of Petersfield's landscapes and people. Twort moved to Petersfield at the end of the First World War and spent many years depicting the town and its residents through her painting. Her long passion for the town is evident in this collection, which includes nearly 1000 works spanning painting, sketch books and printing blocks. Other collections explore the life and work of poet Edward Thomas (1878-1917) and the Bedales Historic Dress Collection.

As well as a rolling programme of exhibitions and events, the museum also hosts workshops for schools, museum tours and historic walks, plus has a charming Courtyard Café.
