The Norris Museum and its library tells the story of Huntingdonshire, from 160million years ago to the present day.
The Norris Museum first opened in 1933, showcasing a collection acquired by amateur historian Herbert Norris. Now amounting to over 33,000 items, Norris' original collection spanned books, documents, prints, paintings, photographs and objects - all relating to his home county.
Born in St Ives, Norris' early interest in natural history and photography translated into research and writing on the local history of the town later in life. His legacy is lovingly preserved in the museum, and on the shelves of the library, where the over 6,000 volumes include rare books, pamphlets and out of print publications.
Host to regular exhibitions and special events, as well as gallery trails and themed craft sessions for families, the Norris Museum also boasts a shop stocked with a wide range of souvenirs and gifts.
