Van Gogh House
With a National Art Pass you get
Home to Van Gogh for a year, this sensitively restored Van Gogh House commemorates the artist’s time in London through guided tours, exhibitions and events.
Van Gogh lived in 87 Hackford Road, a Georgian terrace in South London, between August 1873 and September 1874. Inspired by British literature and art, his time in London had a profound impact on his practice later in life.
Now Grade II listed, a major conservation project rescued this historic property from near dereliction in 2012; though sensitively restored since, the aim was not to create a time capsule, but for the house to remain a home, as well as to host a dynamic programme of events anchored in local heritage and Van Gogh's practice.
Open for guided tours, exhibitions and events since summer 2019, visitors to Van Gogh House can discover the story of the artist's time in London and remarkable history of the building.
