Wimpole Estate

Arrington

With a National Art Pass you get

Free entry

Wimpole is a working estate in Cambridgeshire, still guided by the seasons, with an impressive mansion at its heart.

This beautiful and historic country estate is owned by the National Trust. Spanning over 3,000 acres, it offers something for everyone to enjoy, from the gardens and historic house to the adventure playground and farm animals.

Wimpole Hall

Explore the magnificent Georgian mansion, built in the early 18th century, which is filled with fine art, antiques, and historic furnishings. Visit James Gibbs's splendid Library and a Baroque chapel complete with trompe l’oeil murals by Thornhill. In contrast to the lavish interior, take guided tour of the rarely seen basement and discover the day to day workings of life below stairs.

Discover the great outdoors

The Wimpole Estate has beautiful gardens that are open to the public throughout the year. These include a formal parterre garden, a walled kitchen garden, a woodland garden plus several ponds and lakes. Further afield, the large park is perfect for running and cycling. There are also several trails through the woods where you can spot wildlife on nature walk.

Home Farm

See sheep, pigs, goats, donkeys and rabbits on the farm, which is also one of the UK’s largest rare breed centres. Children can follow the Home Farm trail and learn about the animals. You might even be able to meet the Shire horses and get a carriage ride around the estate (booking essential).

Adventure playground

There’s lots for kids and families to do at Wimpole, including woodland trails, creative activities, and a large adventure playground with climbing frames, swings and slides.
