This collection returns 14 items from Chatsworth House to Chiswick. They were all selected for their confirmed link to either the Burlington or Devonshire collections. 1) A square mahogany frame designed by William Kent and probably commissioned by Lord Burlington for his New House at Chiswick; 2) Two pairs of French fauteuils bearing the mark of Tillard of Paris owned by the 5th Duke of Devonshire at Chiswick (main illustration); 3) Set of four neo-classical chairs attributed to James Wyatt, who worked as an architect for the 5th Duke; 4) A ladies' writing desk made in an Anglo-French style and listed as being formerly located in the Small Closet at Chiswick; 5) Pole screen possibly ordered by the 5th Duke for the new wing at Chiswick; 6) This unusually large drawing for the entrance to the Villa at Chiswick may well have been a presentation drawing by Henry Flitcroft, Lord Burlington's protégé and architectural draughtsman.
