16 drawings from a collection of 37 given to the Courtauld by Robert Witt, including works by Parmigianino (main illustration), Luti, Duperac, Coypel, Zoffany, Benjamin West (second illustration), Sir George Beaumont, Joseph Farington and Legros. One of two gifts and one bequest to two museums by Sir John Witt through the Art Fund in 1963 and 1983. Sir John Witt was a staunch supporter of the Art Fund and acted as its legal adviser for many years. He was the son of Sir Robert Witt, a key figure in the Art Fund's history and one of the founders of the Courtauld.
