Art Funded by you

A drawing of the Virgin and Child

Moretto de Brescia (Alessandro Bonvicino), 1488-1554

This is a bold study of the Virgin kneeling in adoration beside the cradle containing the Infant Christ. It seems to be related to a panel of Moretto's predella in teh Sacristy of the Church of SS Nazzaro e Celso at Brescia, to which it corresponds not only in feeling but also in size. It is on bluish-grey paper squared for transfer.
