A Mother with Two Children
Alfred Edward Chalon, 1815–1820

This charming picture is a valuable addition to the display of Regency material at the Geffrye. Chalon, born in Geneva into a Huguenot family that settled in England at the time of the French Revolution, is well known for his small, sprightly portraits, chiefly in watercolour; which brilliantly capture the manners and fashions of the day.
