A Renaissance Basset Recorder
Unknown artist, 16th century
A Renaissance Basset recorder is made in one piece and pitched between a bass and a tenor, similar to a Baroque bass recorder. The recorder is stamped with the 'double plume' mark, like many early wooden wind instruments. Perhaps by a Venetian maker.
