'A Telescope in the Garden at North Mymms'
Jean Claude Nattes, 1800
Jean Claude Nattes’ drawing of the garden at North Mymms Park shows a large telescope pointing to the sky, ready for use. Behind it, a shed adapted to house the telescope has been rolled back on its wheels. Nattes was a watercolourist, admired for his precise recording of scientific details. His drawing of this unusual garden scene now makes a valuable addition to the Garden Museum’s growing collection of art.
