Unknown artist, 16th–17th century
Six items of architectural sculpture including panel depicting a dog barking at the moon; panel with lion of St. Mark; oval shield with helmet and female figure; 3 rectangular marble panels, originally part of a mantelpiece; pair of consoles. Part of a collection from Morton's House, Corfe Castle, Dorset. Morton's House is a 16th century Elizabethan manor house. Built in 1590 in the shape of an 'E' to honour Queen Elizabeth I, it has in more recent times been sympathetically converted into a nineteen bedroom hotel.
