Back to the Village

Anna Fox, 1999–2008

This collection of 12 photographs from the series 'Back to the Village' will be added to the Sir Benjamin Stone Legacy Collection at Birmingham. The Legacy Collection was started in 2008 with photographs by Dan Meadows and Homer Sykes acquired with an Art Fund grant. Fox has cited Stone as a major influence and her photographs were included in the 2008 outdoor exhibition on Sir Benjamin Stone and his legacy in Birmingham. 'Back to the Village' is an ongoing photography project observing the uniquely English rituals such as nativity plays, Halloween, and Guy Fawkes Night that take place in the picturesque villages of Hampshire.
