A circular centre table of mahogany with a single hexagonal stem and three bun feet. Giuseppe Darmanin and Sons of Senglea, Malta made sculpture as well as table tops and specialised in commissions from grand tourists, particularly Englishmen, who passed through Malta on the way to and from the Levant. The top of the pedestal has the arms of John Howard Galton (1794-1876) of Hadzor House, near Droitwich, Worcestershire emblazoned on it. Hadzor Hall was purchased by J.H. Galton and contained a notable collection of works of art. Several paintings passed to his granddaughter Laura Galton who married Colonel Trench-Gascoigne of Lotherton Hall and the paintings remain there to this day.
