Dead Christ supported by an Angel

Rodrigo de Osona, 1496

Christ is seated on the lid of a plain rectangular stone sarcophagus. He is supported by an angel clothed in pink, who envelops Him in a white cloth. The background is of gold, tooled with gothic motifs. Paintings by Valencian and other Spanish masters working in the reign of Ferdinand and Isabella are less often associated with a known individual than with a fictitious name.
