Drinking horn terminal

Unknown artist, 8th century

© Copyright The Trustees of the British Museum

The terminal has a broad animal head with long, narrow ears which run behind each cheek and project slightly. One of the large circular eyes is still inlaid with glass but the terminal is now broken at both ends. The drinking horn terminal provides evidence of a wealthy elite operating in Lincolnshire and the ability to manufacture items of the finest quality in the area.
