Elizabethan Standing Salt
Unknown artist, 1562–1563

Circular pedestal or column salt bearing a London mark belongs to small group of this period. Distinctly Mannerist decoration of the drum, the form of caryatids suggests the influence of French/Flemish rather than the more usual German patterns.
